Creamy Grapefruit–Peach Hydration Crush
A frosty, smoothie-slush built for maximum refreshment: juicy peach for round, mellow sweetness (no added sugar), grapefruit for a clean citrus finish, and a scoop of yogurt to make it creamy and plush. It drinks like a grown-up creamsicle—bright but not sharp—perfect after a workout or on a hot afternoon. The Vitamix does the heavy lifting, turning simple fruit and ice into a thick, spoonable crush in under 2 minutes.
Total time: 5 minutes
Yield: Makes about 2 large glasses
Ingredients
- 1 large grapefruit, peeled and segmented (remove as much white pith as you can; discard seeds)
- 2 ripe peaches, pitted (or about 2 cups sliced peaches)
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt (Indian-style works great)
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 2 cups ice cubes
- Pinch of kosher salt
Instructions
- Add to the Vitamix in this order: cold water, yogurt, grapefruit segments, peaches, then ice and a pinch of salt.
- Start on low and ramp to high. Blend 30–60 seconds, using the tamper if needed, until the sound changes from “crunchy gravel” to a smooth, steady whirl and the drink looks thick and glossy with no ice flecks.
- Taste. If it’s too thick, blend in a splash more cold water. If it’s still sharper than you want, add 1/4–1/2 of an extra peach and re-blend 10 seconds.
- Pour immediately into 2 cold glasses. Best texture is right away—like a soft slush you can sip through a wide straw.
Notes
Make it extra mellow: use 1 grapefruit + 3 peaches and keep the yogurt at 1/2 cup. More hydrating/lighter: cut yogurt to 1/4 cup and add an extra 1/2 cup water. If your peaches aren’t very ripe, chill them first for better flavor and texture (still no added sugar needed).
